Hiya! Isn't technology frightening? Now, instead of personalized license plates, we have personalized domain names for our websites. Of course, in my case, that may be because I spend a heck of a lot more time in front of the computer than I spend in the car (even now that I have a Real Job and commute to work). I'm married to a wonderful woman named Celeste; we've been married since June 1995, and now we have two wonderful sons named Gavin and Steven. I'm a software engineer at Foveon, a Silicon Valley startup which makes the X3 sensors for digital cameras. Most recently, I led the development team for the firmware operating system for the Sigma SD9 and SD10 cameras. This has been a satisfying job for me, since I've been into digital photography for years. Camera-wise, I own a Sigma SD10, Olympus C-3030Z, and a Casio Exilim EX-M2. Want to see some photos? I graduated from Caltech in 1999 with a Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems. You can also get a copy of my thesis ("Rule-Based Analysis and Generation of Music") in PDF format (3.4MB), if you're interested in the details. In the summer, I hang out at the Renaissance Faire. I tend to appear there as a monk, which looks pretty realistic given that I'm going bald anyway. I used to have hair. I also write poetry, some of which you can read here. |
